Every year we plan on starting a resolution. Wheather it be to lose weight, change a bad habit, meeting new people, seeing the world, etc. we make plans to make a better us. However how many of us actually stick to them?

Research shows that only 9% of adults actually stick to their resolutions for the year. So how do we stick to our resolutions? How do we get to our goal? What do we do when we see ourselves start to fall? Here are some tips and tricks to keep your resolutions this year.

  1. Have someone to keep you accountable.

Pick someone that motivates you. When you are held accountable and are motivated you are more likely to achieve your goal than when you are doing it alone.

2. Start small!

We tend to make big goals rather than small goals. Then we try to make it all happen all at once. Then once we notice we haven't achieved our goal right away we deem ourselves as failures and give up. If you make a big goal set up some small goals so that you can see the progress you are actually making.

3. Use a coloring calendar. When you achieve your goal for the day, color that day in your calendar. This way you can track your progress.

4. Treat yourself

Treat yourself when you've accomplished your small goals. When you reward yourself with something special it helps boost your mood and will also give you more confidence for your next goal.

5. Don't give up

Even on days when you slip. Don't get discouraged, try again the next day. It can be hard to stick with it, so naturally we slip. It's when we slip that we usually give up and decide it's not worth it. However that is not the case, we need to stick with it and just try better the next day. In the end you'll thank yourself for not giving up and for the strength to keep trying.

We hope you have a great year!!! We wish good luck on you resolutions and not to give up on your dreams!!
